DRP leader, Kaashidhoo MP Abdulla Jabir has stated that the court order issued against him prohibiting him from leaving Maldives has been nullified.
Speaking to Sun today, Jabir said that he was unaware of the travel ban against him – and only had come to know about it when he had gone to the airport for his departure. He further detailed that the problem has now been solved and subsequently, his passport has been released. It has been supposedly a week since the travel ban order has been out against Jabir.
Jabir also added that the court order was issued in his absentia at a case in Civil Court.
“The court order was issued by the Civil Court in my absence – regarding a case of submitted by an employee of my company over non-payment of salary,” he said.
Jabir also detailed that the said employee had joined the company when he was in London – without his knowledge and that the employee had joined the company through a contract made with a former employee of the company.
“The court order was issued and enforced while I was in London – without my knowledge. As soon as I was made aware of it, I went to the court and sorted out the matter,” he stated.
Jabir said he is set to depart abroad on a marketing trip as soon as his passport is released.
When Sun had asked Maldives Immigration whether Jabir’s passport had been released, Controller General of Immigration Mohamed Ahmed Hussain (Hanafy) said that they have not received an order to release the passport from the court yet - and would inform so when they do.
