Monitoring measures lifted in Kinbidhoo

Th. Kinbidhoo.

Health Protection Agency (HPA) has lifted monitoring measures in Th. Kinbidhoo.

Kinbidhoo was placed under monitoring mechanism on July 21 subsequent to a two-year-old who traveled from Male’ City with family for the Eid holidays testing positive for COVID-19.

The island has recently been the center of criticism for the continuance of Eid celebratory activities even after the island had been placed under monitoring mechanisms.

Kinbidhoo Council President Ali Hussain has previously stated that despite the island being under monitoring – there was no spread of COVID-19 - which is why the Council had allowed resuming Eid celebratory activities.

With monitoring status lifted from Kinbidhoo, there are a total of 13 islands that are presently under monitoring mechanism in the Maldives. They are:

  • F. Feeali
  • GN. Fuvamulah
  • GA. Villingili
  • AA. Thoddoo
