Locals and work permit holders can now travel to Maldives with negative PCR test

Health Protection Agency (HPA) has announced that Maldivian nationals and work permit holders will now be able to travel to the Maldives with a negative PCR test.

Starting from July 26, Maldivian nationals and work permit holders will be travel to the Maldives with a negative PCR test taken 72-hours prior to their arrival in the Maldives.

Additionally, those who have recovered from the virus can travel without having to quarantine - subject to that 60 days have not passed since the initial date of recovery. HPA details that 60 days will be counted from the date the positive sample was taken on.

If the 60-day mark has passed at the time of their arrival – such persons would have to quarantine for a period of 14-days.

Moreover, those who have completed both doses of the COVID-19 vaccine will also be travel without having to quarantine – subject to that 14 days have passed after receiving the second dose.

Those who are not fully vaccinated would also have to undergo a quarantine period of 14-days.

Children who travel with the aforesaid categories of people do not have quarantine as well – however, they must also present a negative PCR test taken 72-hours prior to their arrival in the Maldives.
