Islamic Ministry has announced the Eid al-Adha prayer will be performed in 39 mosques in the greater Male’ region on Tuesday.

Maldivian authorities have decided against performing Eid prayer in mass congregations in the greater Male’ region and islands under monitoring again, this year, in order to curb the spread of COVID-19.

Islamic Ministry has released a list of mosques in the greater Male’ region where the Eid prayer will be performed on Tuesday.

While Eid prayers will be performed in 39 mosques in the capital, 26 of the mosques will accommodate female worshippers.

Islamic Ministry has stressed that Eid prayer must be performed in accordance with Health Protection Agency (HPA)’s guidelines, meaning worshippers will be required to wear masks and practice social distancing.

Although Eid prayer in mass congregations is not allowed in the greater Male’ region, mass congregations are allowed in islands with no active COVID-19 cases.
