COVID-19: 648 new cases; 2,180 recoveries

Health Protection Agency (HPA), on Thursday, announced 648 additional cases of COVID-19, increasing confirmed cases in Maldives to 66,516.

According to HPA, the 648 new cases include; 349 cases from the greater Male’ region, 270 cases from residential islands outside Male’, 13 cases from operational resorts, and 16 cases from islands under development.

Meanwhile, 2,180 additional COVID-19 patients were confirmed to have made full recoveries over the last 24 hours, increasing total recoveries to 43,959.

With the new developments, Maldives now has 22,375 active cases.

There are 213 patients in hospitals.

3,832 samples have been tested for COVID-19 over the last 24-hours.

With the 648 new infections this Thursday, 5,573 people have tested positive over the last one-week period.

May 31: 710 cases

May 30: 780 cases

May 29: 1,062 cases

May 28: 901 cases

Maldives has recorded 173 COVID-19 deaths.
