COVID-19: Maldives records 704 new cases

Health Protection Agency (HPA), on Wednesday, announced 704 additional cases of COVID-19, increasing confirmed cases in Maldives to 65,868.

According to HPA, the 704 new cases include; 407 cases from the greater Male’ region, 271 cases from residential islands outside Male’, 18 cases from operational resorts, and 8 cases from islands under development.

Meanwhile, 828 additional COVID-19 patients were confirmed to have made full recoveries over the last 24 hours, increasing total recoveries to 41,779.

With the new developments, Maldives now has 23,909 active cases.

There are 197 patients in hospitals.

5,181 samples have been tested for COVID-19 over the last 24-hours.

With the 704 new infections this Wednesday, 6,224 people have tested positive over the last one-week period.

June 2: 704 cases

June 1: 768 cases

May 31: 710 cases

May 30: 780 cases

May 29: 1,062 cases

May 28: 901 cases

May 27: 1,299 cases

Maldives has recorded 171 COVID-19 deaths.
