COVID-19: Maldives records 780 new cases

Health Protection Agency (HPA), on Sunday, announced 780 additional cases of COVID-19, increasing confirmed cases in Maldives to 63,686.

According to HPA, the 780 new cases include; 571 cases from the greater Male’ region, 205 cases from residential islands outside Male’, and 4 cases from operational resorts.

Meanwhile, 1,081 additional COVID-19 patients were confirmed to have made full recoveries over the last 24 hours, increasing total recoveries to 39,314.

With the new developments, Maldives now has 24,205 active cases.

There are 218 patients in hospitals.

4,356 samples have been tested for COVID-19 over the last 24-hours.

With the 780 new infections this Sunday, 7,762 people have tested positive over the last one-week period.

May 25: 1,004 cases

May 24: 1,417 cases

158 COVID-19 patients have died from complications.
