COVID-19: Two more deaths reported, total at 134

Health Protection Agency (HPA) has announced two more deaths related to COVID-19 today.

The total number of deaths in the Maldives has now reached 134. Deaths confirmed so far today have now reached five. 

HPA said that a 93-year old Maldivian male who was receiving treatment at the Hulhumale' Medical Facility had passed away at 6:55. The next death was reported at 7:44, and HPA said that the individual was also a male Maldivian aged 85 who was admitted at the Hulhumale' Medical Facility. 

The other three deaths reported today were also all male Maldivians. 

The month of May has marked the highest number of deaths in the Maldives since the beginning of the pandemic with almost 60 deaths reported. Case numbers have also jumped to around 1,000 daily new cases on an average basis.
