Health Protection Agency (HPA) has announced 1,559 additional cases of COVID-19, increasing confirmed cases in the Maldives to 55,924.
According to HPA, the new cases include; 1,135 cases from the greater Male’ region, 401 cases from residential islands outside Male’, 20 cases from operational resorts and three from liveaboards.
Meanwhile, 510 additional COVID-19 patients were confirmed to have made full recoveries over the last 24 hours, increasing total recoveries to 32,322.
With the new developments, Maldives now has 23,464 active cases.
There are 290 patients in hospitals.
5,834 samples have been tested for COVID-19 over the last 24-hours.
129 COVID-19 patients have died from complications. Six of these deaths have so far been reported today while 56 have been recorded in the month of May alone.
HPA vaccination statistics also showed that the total number of people who have received both doses of COVID-19 vaccines in the Maldives has now increased to 156,002. 2,056 of these individuals received the second dose today. They include 545 from the Greater Male' Area as well as 1,511 from other atolls.
According to the HPA, 305,850 people have so far received the first dose of the vaccine against COVID-19. 449 were vaccinated with their first dose today. They include 306 from the Greater Male' Area and 143 from other atolls.
