COVID-19: Maldives records 1,960 new cases

Health Protection Agency (HPA), on Saturday, announced 1,960 additional cases of COVID-19, increasing confirmed cases in Maldives to 54,365.

According to HPA, the 1,960 new cases include; 1,518 cases from the greater Male’ region, 431 cases from residential islands outside Male’, and 11 cases from operational resorts.

Meanwhile, 615 additional COVID-19 patients were confirmed to have made full recoveries over the last 24 hours, increasing total recoveries to 31,812.

With the new developments, Maldives now has 22,421 active cases.

There are 294 patients in hospitals.

6,333 samples have been tested for COVID-19 over the last 24-hours.

With the 1,960 new infections this Saturday, 10,583 people have tested positive over the last one-week period.

May 22: 1,960 cases

May 21: 1,603 cases

May 20: 2,194 cases

May 19: 1,187 cases

May 18: 1,465 cases

May 17: 1,433 cases

May 16: 741 cases

123 COVID-19 patients have died from complications.
