COVID-19: 1,603 new cases, more than 1,000 from Male' City alone

Health Protection Agency (HPA), has announced 1,603 additional cases of COVID-19. 

The new cases mean that the confirmed total cases in the Maldives has now increased to 52,405.

According to HPA, the new cases include; 1,025 cases from the greater Male’ region, 571 cases from residential islands outside Male’, and seven cases from operational resorts.

Meanwhile, 794 additional COVID-19 patients were confirmed to have made full recoveries over the last 24 hours, increasing total recoveries to 31,197.

With the new developments, Maldives now has 21,079 active cases.

There are 286 patients in hospitals.

6,320 samples have been tested for COVID-19 over the last 24-hours.

  • May 21: 1,603 cases
  • May 20: 2,194 cases
  • May 19: 1,187 cases
  • May 18: 1,465 cases
  • May 17: 1,433 cases
  • May 16: 741 cases
  • May 15: 1,007 cases

120 COVID-19 patients have died from complications.
