COVID-19: Maldives records 1,465 new cases

Health Protection Agency (HPA), on Tuesday, announced 1,465 additional cases of COVID-19, increasing confirmed cases in Maldives to 47,421.

According to HPA, the 1,465 new cases include; 1,213 cases from the greater Male’ region, 244 cases from residential islands outside Male’, and 8 cases from operational resorts.

HPA said that of the 1,465 new cases reported on Tuesday, 517 cases are positive cases from samples collected between 6pm of 17th May and 6pm of 18th May, while the remaining 948 cases are backlog samples.

Meanwhile, 237 additional COVID-19 patients were confirmed to have made full recoveries over the last 24 hours, increasing total recoveries to 29,086.

With the new developments, Maldives now has 18,221 active cases.

There are 268 patients in hospitals.

3,703 samples have been tested for COVID-19 over the last 24-hours.

With the 1,465 new infections this Tuesday, 8,901 people have tested positive over the last one-week period.

May 18: 1,465 cases

May 17: 1,433 cases

May 16: 741 cases

May 15: 1,007 cases

May 14: 1,467 cases

May 13: 1,216 cases

May 12: 1,572 cases

105 COVID-19 patients have died from complications.
