The Hiyaa Wing of the IGMH Hospital or Ward A has been designated as a COVID-19 treatment facility.
In a press conference of the Health Emergency Operations Center (HEOC), President's Office spokesperson Mabrouq Azeez said that the wing had been operationalized for COVID-19 since yesterday.
Mabrouq said that the ward had a total of nine beds, out of which four were currently occupied. He added that efforts were being made to designate other wards of the hospital for COVID-19 as well.
Previously, the Hulhumale' Hospital had been mobilized into a COVID-19 facility, due to the increased amount of cases in the Maldives as of recently.
The Maldives currently has 16,997 active cases with 268 hospitalized for the virus.
