COVID-19: Maldives records 1,433 new cases

Health Protection Agency (HPA), on Monday, announced 1,433 additional cases of COVID-19, increasing confirmed cases in Maldives to 45,956.

According to HPA, the 1,433 new cases include; 1,294 cases from the greater Male’ region, 134 cases from residential islands outside Male’, and 5 cases from operational resorts.

HPA said that of the 1,433 new cases reported on Monday, 594 cases are positive cases from samples collected between 6pm of 16th May and 6pm of 17th May, while the remaining 839 cases are backlog samples.

Meanwhile, 390 additional COVID-19 patients were confirmed to have made full recoveries over the last 24 hours, increasing total recoveries to 28,849.

With the new developments, Maldives now has 16,997 active cases.

There are 268 patients in hospitals.

4,480 samples have been tested for COVID-19 over the last 24-hours.

With the 1,433 new infections this Monday, 8,937 people have tested positive over the last one-week period.

May 13: 1,216 cases

May 12: 1,572 cases

May 11: 1,501 cases

101 COVID-19 patients have died from complications.
