Maldives COVID-19 death toll rises to 96

The total number of deaths recorded in relation to COVID-19 in the Maldives has increased to 96, with two deaths recorded so far today. 

Health Protection Agency (HPA) announced late last night that an 81-year old local male admitted at the Hulhumale' Medical Facility had passed away due to COVID-19 at 02:38 last night. That was the 95th death related to the virus in the Maldives. 

HPA also announced a short while ago that a 30-year old local woman also admitted at the same facility due to the virus had passed away at 04:30, bringing the total death toll to 96.

The number of deaths related to the virus in the Maldives has increased significantly since the nation began to experience a fourth wave of the virus. The number of cases have also increased exponentially as of recently, with more than 1,000 cases confirmed on a daily basis for more than a week now. There are now an excess of 15,000 active cases with 260 individuals hospitalized, in the Maldives.
