COVID-19: Maldives records 1,007 new cases

Health Protection Agency (HPA), on Saturday, announced 1,007 additional cases of COVID-19, increasing confirmed cases in Maldives to 43,782.

According to HPA, the 1,007 new cases include; 793 cases from the greater Male’ region, 183 cases from residential islands outside Male’, 26 cases from operational resorts, and 5 cases from liveaboards.

HPA said that of the 1,007 new cases reported on Saturday, 821 cases are positive cases from samples collected between 6pm of 14th May and 6pm of 15th May, while the remaining 186 cases are backlog samples.

Meanwhile, 341 additional COVID-19 patients were confirmed to have made full recoveries over the last 24 hours, increasing total recoveries to 28,013.

With the new developments, Maldives now has 15,666 active cases.

There are 260 patients in hospitals.

3,159 samples have been tested for COVID-19 over the last 24-hours.

With the 1,007 new infections this Saturday, 9,058 people have tested positive over the last one-week period.

May 15: 1,007 cases

May 14: 1,467 cases

May 13: 1,216 cases

May 12: 1,572 cases

May 11: 1,501 cases

May 10: 1,204 cases

May 9: 1,091 cases

94 COVID-19 patients have died from complications.
