COVID-19: Daily new infections reach 300, active cases increase above 3,000

Health Protection Agency (HPA) has announced 300 additional cases of COVID-19, increasing confirmed cases in the Maldives to 24,379.

According to HPA, the new cases include; 94 cases from the greater Male’ region, 96 cases from residential islands outside Male’, 15 cases from operational resorts, and 95 cases from industrial islands.

Meanwhile, 127 additional COVID-19 patients were confirmed to have made full recoveries over the last 24 hours, increasing total recoveries to 21,282.

With the new developments, Maldives now has 3,022 active cases.

There are 101 patients in hospitals.

3,625 samples (including repeated samples) have been tested for COVID-19 over the last 24-hours.

67 COVID-19 patients have died from complications.

VACCINE DRIVE

HPA stated 3,057 people were vaccinated in the last 24 hours. 1,053 were from the greater Male’ region, and 2,004 were from other atolls.

Total 240,773 people have now been inoculated under the program; 132,044 from the greater Male' region and 108,729 from other atolls.
