COVID-19: Confirmed new cases surge to 241 today

Health Protection Agency (HPA) has announced 241 additional cases of COVID-19, increasing confirmed cases in the Maldives to 24,079.

According to HPA, the new cases include; 73 cases from the greater Male’ region, 74 cases from residential islands outside Male’, 15 cases from operational resorts, and 79 cases from industrial islands.

Meanwhile, 171 additional COVID-19 patients were confirmed to have made full recoveries over the last 24 hours, increasing total recoveries to 21,155.

With the new developments, Maldives now has 2,849 active cases.

There are 99 patients in hospitals.

3,850 samples (including repeated samples) have been tested for COVID-19 over the last 24-hours.

67 COVID-19 patients have died from complications.

VACCINE DRIVE

HPA stated 2,034 people were vaccinated in the last 24 hours. 615 were from the greater Male’ region, and 1,419 were from other atolls.

Total 237,716 people have now been inoculated under the program; 130,991 from the greater Male' region and 106,725 from other atolls.
