Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP) leader, Parliament Speaker Mohamed Nasheed said on Saturday that the ruling party has Vice President Faisal Naseem’s support in the upcoming Local Council Elections.
Faisal from Jumhoory Party (JP) – a member of the government coalition – met with the former Maldivian President earlier this Saturday.
Posting a picture from their meeting on Twitter, Nasheed said that Faisal standing by MDP in the campaign for the Local Council Elections was “prime evidence he wishes well for Maldives”.
Faisal retweeted the post and wrote that he was happy to meet and exchange opinions with Nasheed.
“Local Council campaign will be conducted in spirit of nationalism and safety, and In Sha Allah, will shed light on a brighter dawn,” he said.
Local Council Elections is scheduled to be held on April 10. JP, the party to which Faisal belongs to, is also contending for seats in the elections.
