Maldives’ COVID-19 death toll rises to 59

Health Protection Agency (HPA) announced on Saturday that a COVID-19 patient hospitalized in the Dharumavantha Hospital in Male’ has passed away.

HPA identified the deceased as a 63-year-old Maldivian female.

She passed away at 01:43 am on Saturday.

“This is the 59th COVID-19 death in the Maldives,” announced HPA.

Maldives has 18,467 confirmed COVID-19 cases, including 127 new cases recorded on Friday. 15,965 patients have since recovered, and the country currently has 2,446 active cases.

159 of the patients are hospitalized.
