COVID-19: Opportunity open for voluntary testing in Male’ region

Health Protection Agency (HPA) has opened the opportunity for voluntary testing from facilities that collect samples for release from home quarantine in Male’ region.

However, voluntary testing at the facilities is not open for people who show symptoms consistent with COVID-19, contacts of confirmed cases, and people travelling overseas.

The former flu clinic behind Male’ Hiya will be open for collection of voluntary samples from 09:00 am to 01:00 pm and from 05:00 pm to 09:00 pm each day except for Fridays, and from 05:00 pm to 09:00 pm on Fridays.

The Hulhumale’ Flu Clinic is also open for collection of voluntary samples from 05:00 pm to 09:00 pm. And starting January 28, the clinic will be open for collection of voluntary samples from 2:00 pm to 5:00 pm each day expect for Fridays, and from 05:00 pm to 08:00 pm on Fridays.

The move comes amid a recent surge in COVID-19 cases in the Male’ region. Maldives recorded 145 new cases on Tuesday, 93 of them from the Male’ region.

The surge in cases has also prompted the reinstatement of a curfew in the Male’ region, and the banning of parties, events and functions.
