Qatar Airways will be increasing its flight frequency to the Maldives.

The airline was the first to commence operations to the Maldives when the nation reopened its borders in July. The airline previously operated just one flight per day but will be increasing to three flights per day, according to Maldives Airports Company Limited (MACL).

The airline is an important player in the market as the tourism industry of the Maldives slowly comes back to life.

Currently, 20 international airlines are operating to the Maldives with four of them from the Middle-East. Bahraini airline, Gulf Air is also set to commence operations soon.

Since reopening its borders, the Maldives has received more than 90,000 tourists with the total number of tourist arrivals for 2020 now calculated at 473,284.
