First week of November, 303 positive virus cases, 205 from capital

Statistics by the Health Protection Agency (HPA) have shown that 10,351 individuals were tested for COVID-19 in the first week of November, out of which 303 tested positive. 

The number of positive cases identified in the Maldives is decreasing and statistics by the HPA have shown that most tests were conducted on November 1. On that day, 1,920 samples were collected, out of which 42 individuals tested positive for the virus.

The greatest number of cases were identified on last Thursday when 71 individuals tested positive. The high number of cases were all from workers of a single company. 

During the first week of November, 303 individuals tested positive, out of which 205 were from the Greater Male’ area. From resorts and islands, 98 individuals tested positive.

Out of those that tested positive 140 are locals while 163 are foreigners. 

Easements have also been introduced to the COVID-19 restrictions on Male’ City. Curfew hours have been reduced from 00:00 to 4:00. Gatherings of no more than 15 people are now permitted in the capital. Parks and public spaces are also open for the public under strict HPA guidelines. 

Health Emergency Operations Center (HEOC) has stated that the risk of a third wave still existed despite the reduction of cases. 

The Maldives has confirmed a total of 11,962 cases. Out of which, 11,066 have made recoveries.
