Health Emergency Operations Center (HEOC) spokesperson, epidemiologist Dr. Nazla Rafeeq has tested negative for the new coronavirus, and has resumed joining regular press briefings from the center.
Nazla, a senior medical officer at Health Protection Agency (HPA), went into self-isolation on August 14, after a relative she had contact with tested positive. She joined the regular HEOC press conferences virtually during the period.
Speaking at the HEOC press conference on Monday night, Nazla said announced that she tested negative.
She said she received her test results on Monday morning.
Maldives has 7,804 confirmed coronavirus cases, including 137 new cases recorded on Monday. 5,155 patients have since recovered, while 28 have died from complications.
The country currently has 2,615 active cases. 172 coronavirus patients are hospitalized.
