Authorities seek healthcare workers as cases stack up

Health Emergency Operations Center (HEOC) has announced that it is searching for health workers as COVID-19 cases in the Maldives keep on increasing day by day.

Over the last month, the country has reported around 100-150 cases per day on average, leading authorities to express concern due to fears of reaching the country’s capacity in treating for the virus. 

In an announcement, the Health Ministry said that it was seeking doctors, nurses, and healthcare workers to assist in COVID-19 operations. 

Those interested are to submit an email to the Ministry before August 31. The email should include medical licenses and registration as well.

Medical professionals have warned that the current force of health care workers could reach its limit and even burn out due to the high number of cases. 

Maldive has confirmed more than 6600 cases of the virus, along with 28 deaths. Hospitalized patients are number higher than 150 while there are more than 2,000 active cases.
