Dr. Asim appointed as permanent representative to UN offices in Geneva

The government has officially appointed Dr. Asim Ahmed as the permanent representative from the Maldives to the UN Office in Geneva, Switzerland. 

Dr. Asim was awarded the letter of appointment in a ceremony at the President’s Office. Dr. Asim had previously served as the Ambassador at large at the Foreign Ministry and had even served as the Education Minister during President Waheed’s administration. 

He had served as the head of the Local Government Authority and had worked as a technical advisor to UNDP, and UNICEF. Dr. Asim has a Bachelor in Arts in sociology and politics, along with a Masters in Philosophy. Dr. Asim obtained his doctorate in the field of philosophy as well. 

Dr. Asim succeeds Dr. Hala Hameed to the post of the permanent representative.
