A dead foreigner taken to IGMH has tested positive for COVID-19.

Health Protection Agency (HPA) said that a 29-year old deceased Bangladeshi national was taken to the hospital last night. The individual tested positive for COVID-19 after tests were conducted.

When the individuals that brought the deceased to the hospital were questioned, they said that no symptoms of COVID-19 had been noticed from the deceased before. They had discovered the deceased collapsed in his living quarters.

HPA said that since the individual had tested positive after passing away, the death would not be treated as a COVID-19 related death.

The cause of death would be identified after an autopsy was conducted.

Maldives recorded its 16th COVID-19 related death yesterday when a 71-year old local woman passed away.
