Possible cannabis plant in K. Dhiffushi

A plant thought to be cannabis was discovered inside a house in K. Dhiffushi today.

Police said that the island council had lodged a case with the Police due to the plant. Police had arrived on the island earlier today and searched the area under a search warrant around 16:00 today. 

Samples for testing were collected from the plant for the investigation which is now underway.

Cannabis plants are illegal in the Maldives and are not naturally found in the country.
