India has relaxed some of the prohibitions placed on certain types of exports from the country to the Maldives due to Covid-19.

India has previously clamped down on the export of the Hydroxychloroquine or anti-malarial drugs which are sometimes used against Covid-19. However, the prohibitions were later lifted under a special permit to the Maldives.

This time, India relaxed the prohibitions on some types of urgent test kits, reagents, and viral transport mediums. 20,000 pieces of viral transport medium in addition to 5000 bottles of ethanol were provided by India to the Maldives.

The items will be transported to the Maldives within this week. India has also provided the Maldives with three months of medicine. A medicine shipment of STO stuck in India due to the virus restrictions was also transported to the Maldives.
