After the capital city of Male’ confirmed three cases of Covid-19, the government has moved to place nine other locations in four different islands under lockdown.
Male’ City confirmed the first case of Covid-19, Patient 21, on Wednesday, April 15, 2020. Two other cases connected with Patient 21 were also later confirmed. 207 individuals in contact with Patient 21 were identified by the authorities. Out of these, 75 high-risk individuals have been isolated by the authorities.
The lockdown orders on locations in bold were announced by the authorities in the evening, while the other locations were announced earlier today.
The island of K. Kaashidhoo is under lockdown after an individual in contact with Patient 21 traveled to the island. The individual’s first test results have been received as negative, however, the island is still under lockdown as the authorities are still conducting a final test on the individual.
