The second positive case of Covid-19 confirmed in Male' has been identified as the child of the first case identified in Male' City earlier today.
The Health Protection Agency confirmed the news just now that a toddler had tested positive for the virus in Male' City. The age of the toddler was not divulged by the HPA for privacy purposes under the law. Health Protection Agency also stated that 11 people in contact with the first case were also tested for the virus. Out of the 11, only one tested positive for the virus.

The capital city of Male’ confirmed the first case of the virus earlier today. The individual, the mother of the toddler, presented herself to the flu clinic in Male’ City yesterday. How she came into contact with the virus is still being investigated by the authorities.
The government has previously stated that the first case confirmed in Male’ had no travel history or contact with another positive case.
Male' City was placed in lockdown after the authorities confirmed the first case of the virus earlier today.
Four houses in the capital have been placed under monitoring mechanisms by the authorities following the case and a lockdown of 24-hours has been imposed.
The island of K. Kaashidhoo is also under monitoring mechanisms after an individual in contact with the first case traveled to the island.
The alert levels in Male’ City have been raised to Level 4: Red Alert after the city confirmed the first case of Covid-19.
The Maldives has so far confirmed 22 cases of the virus. They are 15 foreigners and seven locals. Three locals are being treated for the virus while all others, except two tourists who departed from the Maldives, have made full recoveries. The two tourists had departed after completing their quarantine periods before their test results were received as positive.
The toddler has been moved by the authorities to an isolation facility.
