No signs found of missing man as MNDF search an area of 260000km

Maldives National Defense Force (MNDF) has stated that no signs have been found of a man who jumped into the sea from JW Marriot resort.

The 30-year old missing man who worked as the imam of the JW Marriot resort in Sh. Atoll went missing after jumping into the sea near the jetty of the resort on April 6, 2020.

MNDF officers have so far searched an area of 261,600 km to search for the man. Divers covered an area of 32,000 km on the first night. MNDF Coastguar5d speedboats have also searched a surface area of the sea totaling 48,542,000 sq.km.

No signs of the man have so far been uncovered despite the efforts.

CCTV footage from the resort showed the man, who is an Indian national, on a phone call near the supply jetty of the resort before the man is seen jumping into the sea.
