Two suspected cases of Covid-19 identified in Six Senses Laamu have been isolated as well as suspeected cases in Anantara and Kuramathi.
Both cases in Six Senses Laamu are foreigners, and HPA informed that they had been in contact with a positive case before they arrived in the country.
A local who was in contact with a positive case from Kuramathi island is also being tested for the virus. The person has now been placed in isolation until the results of the tests are received.
Currently, the authorities are waiting for test results from suspected cases in OBLU Sangeli and Anantara Dhigu resort as well. Furthermore, testing is being conducted on 10 individuals from Kuredu Island Resort as well.
The Maldives has confirmed eight cases of the disease. The confirmed cases are from the following resorts which have now been partially reopened after authorities ensured the safety of the island.
Fifteen people are in isolation at the center in Farukolhufushi while two elderly people who were tested positive for the disease were moved to the DH11 specialized critical care unit to be monitored closely by health professionals due to their old age. A further 10 are in quarantine at the center in Vilivaru.
Tourist excursions to the capital have also been temporarily halted and the Maagiri Hotel in Male’ city has also been temporarily closed for disinfection.
Authorities stated that monitoring mechanisms are in place at the resorts.
Furthermore, a suspected case of the Covid-19 in Sun Aqua Iru Veli in Dh. atoll was also tested negative.
The subject, a foreigner, was declared as negative yesterday by the authorities which also added that the person was being monitored and being kept in isolation as a precaution.
