BML introduces new maternity leave policy

Bank of Maldives has extended the maternity leave offered to its employees, starting from today.

Under the new regulations, female employees would be entitled to six-month leave with pay and would also be entitled to a two-month leave depending on the health during pregnancy. Male employees would also be entitled to a month’s paid maternity leave.

Before this regulation, the bank had offered a two-month maternity leave for female employees and three days of leave for male employees.

The government also changed the maternity leave policy last year so that employees could take up to six months of maternity leave.
