Ahmed Agleel (Kidoo) from Gurahaage S. Feydhoo, one of the men named in the murder of journalist Ahmed Rilwan by the Presidential Commission on Deaths and Disappearances was released after being briefly detained by police in an operation last night.
The Commission alleged that Agleel was the one who arranged the boat on which Ahmed Rilwan was beheaded and thrown into the sea after he was kidnapped near his residence by an affiliate of the Al Qaeda operating in the Maldives. Agleel who has denied the commissions allegations was released after his statement was taken. police also confiscated his phone and laptop.
The massive operation by police has seen eight locations in Male' city and one in Addu city searched. The police have also widened the search operation to include businesses and even carried out an operation at sea today.
