Hisaan Hussain appointed to JSC

Thulhaadhoo MP Hisaan Hussain has been appointed as a member of Judicial Service Commission (JSC).

Hisaan had won the approval of Parliament for appointment as the new parliamentary representative at JSC with the unanimous consensus of 81 parliamentarians on Wednesday, May 29.

She was presented with her letter of appointment by President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih in a function held at the President’s Office this Monday morning.

Her oath of membership of JSC was administered by Supreme Court Judge Abdulla Areef.

Hisaan is one of the country’s leading legal attorneys. She previously served at the Attorney General’s Office, and as Legal Secretary of the President during President Mohamed Nasheed’s presidency before going into private practice.

She has often gone head to head with Maldivian judges and judicial institutions such as JSC and is a strong advocate of judicial reform.
