President Maumoon returns from Indian trip

Former President, Maumoon Abdul Gayoom has returned to the Maldives after concluding his visit to India.

The former President went to India with his wife on a medical purposes on 22 December 2018.

While the former President had returned to the country, dissent has been created among the Leaders of the Government Coalition.

Maumoon took to Twitter last Friday stating that it is a national responsibility to keep the coalition intact and it is the responsibility of the four leaders to do so.

The coalition has yet to decide on how the constituencies will be distributed in the upcoming Parliament Election in April.


Regarding the Parliament Elections, the Leader of Jumhoory Party, Qasim Ibrahim has said that he is ready to talk with everyone including the former President, Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom. Qasim has also indirectly criticized the MDP President, Mohamed Nasheed.
