Nasheed: MDP is ready for a sweeping victory at Parliamentary Elections

Main ruling party, Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP) is ready for a sweeping victory at the upcoming parliamentary elections, says Former Maldivian President and Leader of MDP, Mohamed Nasheed.

MDP held its primary for the parliamentary elections last Friday. And interim results show a win for Nasheed to secure the Central Machangolhi slot, easily beating the sole other contestant.

Speaking during a speech held at the MDP Haruge last Friday night, Nasheed thanked all members of MDP who cast their vote in the primary. And stressed majority control of the Parliament was crucial for MDP.

“And we will gain the majority. We are ready,” said Nasheed.

Nasheed expressed his commitment to working together with all the victors of the MDP Primary, and requested those who suffered defeat during the primary and their campaign teams to contact the MPD Secretariat.

He stressed that MDP must work together in order to secure a sweeping victory at the elections.

He said the current administration’s pledges, and its efforts to fulfil the pledges, had inspired hope for MDP and the people of Maldives.
