VP-designate injured during practice; discharged after treatment

Vice President-designate Faisal Naseem was injured during practice ahead of the inaugural football match and has been discharged from the hospital after treatment.

Practice for the friendly football match planned for the sporting festival to celebrate President-elect Ibrahim Mohamed Solih (Ibu)’s inauguration, the Dhulhaheyo Hashiheyo Eid, was held at the Henveyru Stadium last Wednesday evening.

“Sun” has been informed Faisal suffered only minor injuries, and was discharged from ADK Hospital after treatment.

Faisal suffered the injuries when a ball struck by former Maldivian President Mohamed Nasheed hit him on the back of his head. He slipped and fell and hit his head and neck on the ground attempting an overhead kick.

The sporting festival, Dhulhaheyo Hashiheyo Eid is open to public and scheduled to begin on Monday. A number of top politicians will take part in the friendly football match including President-elect Solih, VP-designate Faisal, former Maldivian President Nasheed, Speaker of Parliament and Leader of Jumhoory Party (JP) Qasim Ibrahim and Leader of Adhaalath Party (AP) Sheikh Imran Abdulla.
