MDP hall in Meedhoo set on fire

A fire has been set to a campaign hall of the opposition party, MDP, at Meedhoo, Addu City. 

Meedhoo Councilor on the Addu City Council, Hussain Hiyaz told Sun Media that the fire set last night destroyed the MDP hall beyond use. 

He said that there were electronic equipment and 30 plywood sheets inside when the fire was set. The total damage is estimated at MVR 140,000. 

Councilor Hiyaz said that the incident took place between 2:30 a.m. and 5 a.m.

Regarding the arson, the MP for Meedhoo constituency, Rozaina Adam took to Twitter saying that the fire has brought down the building and called to the Maldives Police Service to investigate, find those responsible and take action immediately. 

So far there have been no official word from the police.
