Police to verify fingerprints on re-registration forms

Elections Commission has requested the Maldives Police Service to verify the fingerprints on the re-registration forms by the people who wishes to vote outside their native islands in the upcoming Presidential Election. 

Police have verified the fingerprints of re-registration forms back in the 2013 President Election as well. 

Member and Spokesperson of the Elections Commission, Ahmed Akram, said that a request has been made at the Maldives Police Service for the verification; same as the previous election. 

Re-registrations is open until 11 August. Elections Commission said that 17,900 forms have been submitted for re-registration so far.
