Maldives National Defense Force (MNDF)’s Coastguard has started looking for a fishing boat reported missing with 25 Maldivians onboard.
MNDF said the boat was reported missing to the Coastguard’s Maritime Rescue Coordination Center at approximately 9:20 am this Monday.
The fishing boat “Concord” departed on a fishing trip from Maradhoo, Addu City at approximately 6 pm last Friday.
Contact with the boat was last made via satellite phone at 6:10 pm on Sunday, says MNDF. The authority said it has been informed the boat resumed travelling after running into engine trouble.
MNDF says the fishing boat “Concord” is 108-foot long and painted blue and white in color.
