EU resolution calls Maldives to make improvements

The Parliament of the European Union has passed a resolution today calling on to the Maldivian government to improve the situation in the country. 

Today's resolution calls for the implementation of the Supreme Court ruling on 1 February 2018 releasing all political captives, lift the State of Emergency in the country and pave the way for a free and open Presidential Election where all political parties can take part in. 

EU also called to put an end to the efforts to being implementing capital punishment in the Maldives and open the door for all religions in the country. 

Maldivian Ambassador to the EU, Ahmed Shiaan told Sun Media that a resolution has been passed by the EU but a motion has not been passed to take any action against the Maldives.
