Prosecutor General Aishath Bisham has appealed to police officers to enforce laws without hesitation.

Speaking at the closing of the 29th police recruit training program in Dh. Vaanee this Wednesday, PG Bisham said police officers needed to honor their oath by enforcing the laws and regulations of the country and working with integrity.

“Perform your duties in compliance with the laws and regulations of Maldives, with integrity, with care, with courage, steadfast, and without hesitation,” said Bisham.

She said the police had an important role to play in ensuring sustainable development in the country, as sustainable development is dependent on a peaceful community.

Bisham also stressed the need for use of modern technology and techniques in police work.

The function was attended by members of the Executive Board of Maldives Police Service, commissioned officers, heads of State institutions in Dh. Atoll, heads of Police Academy, participants of the recruit training program and their parents.

The people of Dh. Vaanee were relocated due to the destruction caused by the tsunami in 2004. The island is now used for police training programs.
