Beckham, Keane each score twice to lead Galaxy

PORTLAND, Oregon (AP) — David Beckham and Robbie Keane scored two goals apiece to lead the Los Angeles Galaxy over the Portland Timbers 5-3 in Major League Soccer on Saturday.

Landon Donovan also had a goal for the Galaxy, who are in fifth place in the Western Conference and back in the playoff race.

Portland struggled in its first game since coach John Spencer was fired and Gavin Wilkinson took over the team.

Kris Boyd scored two goals for the Timbers, who lost for only the third time in 10 games at home this season.

EARTHQUAKES 5, REAL SALT LAKE 0

At Santa Clara, California, Chris Wondolowski scored a hat trick as San Jose dominated Real Salt Lake.

Wondolowski scored in the 19th, 72nd and 80th minutes to extend his league-leading goal tally to 17 on the year.

Alan Gordon tapped home a loose rebound from 3 yards in the 63rd minute and Simon Dawkins scored at short range off a 79th-minute corner kick to complete the scoring for San Jose, which is four points clear of Real Salt Lake in the standings.

FC DALLAS 2, RAPIDS 1

In Commerce City, Colorado, Fabian Castillo scored in the 81st minute to help FC Dallas end a 13-game winless streak.

FC Dallas had not won since beating Montreal on April 14. The team was 0-7-6 since.

After Omar Cummings scored in the 50th minute for Colorado, Carlos Rodriguez got the equalizer 10 minutes later.

The Rapids lost for the third straight time, matching their season high.

FIRE 1, WHITECAPS 0

In Bridgeville, Illinois, Pavel Pardo scored on an early free kick to end the Fire's 221-minute scoreless streak and lead the team to victory.

The Fire prevailed despite being reduced to 10 men for the final 21 minutes after defender Arne Friedrich was sent off with a second yellow card.

Chicago was awarded a free kick in the ninth minute when Whitecaps midfielder Jun Marques Davidson tripped the Fire's Patrick Nyarko outside the box. Pardo then sent a 23-yard kick into the right corner for his first goal of the season.

The Whitecaps suffered their second straight loss and third in a five-game road swing.

SPORTING KANSAS CITY 2, CREW 0

At Columbus, Ohio, Jacob Peterson and Teal Bunbury each scored to allow Sporting Kansas City to grab sole possession of first place in the Eastern Conference.

Kansas City took the lead in the sixth minute when Peterson Joseph split the defense with a pass to Peterson, who beat goalkeeper Andy Gruenebaum for a 1-0 lead. Bunbury added the second goal in the 82nd minute.

Columbus has dropped three of its last four games.

TORONTO FC 1, REVOLUTION 0

At Foxborough, Massachusetts, rookie midfielder Luis Silva scored in the eighth minute as Toronto FC downed New England.

Silva was making just his second start since May 26. He beat New England goalie Bobby Shuttleworth in the lower right corner of the net after receiving a pass from Danny Koevermans, who threaded the ball through a trio of Revolution defenders.

Toronto ended New England's five-match unbeaten streak.

UNION 2, IMPACT 1

At Chester, Pennsylvania, Carlos Valdes scored in the 91st minute to lift Philadelphia past Montreal.

Lionard Pajoy also got a goal for the Union, who won their third in a row and fourth in five games.

The game was scoreless until Pajoy's goal in the 82nd minute. The Impact equalized eight minutes later when Patrice Bernier's corner kick slipped by Philadelphia goalkeeper Zac MacMath.

The Impact have lost four of five.
