The Parliament Committee for Government Oversight has decided to summon the higher ups of the Health Ministry to ensure that the best measures are being taken against the H1N1 influenza spreading in the country.
The case was filed with the committee on 15 March by MP Riyaz. At the time, MP Riyaz noted that while a man have died from the flu, a pregnant woman and a small child are in serious condition. And so request was to ensure that the government is taking the necessary steps to prevent further spread.
At the Committee meet today, the summoning of the Health Ministry officials were presented by the MP for Meedhoo constituency, MDP’s Rozaina Adam.
MP Rozaina got full support of the members present at the committee and decided to summon the Health Ministry tomorrow night at 8:30 p.m.
So far 199 people have been tested positive for H1N1 with six fatalities and 35 people are currently hospitalized in treatment.
