2 rescued Sri Lankan fishermen taken to Dhidhdhoo

The two Sri Lankan fishermen rescued by a Maldivian fishing boat have been transported to H. A. Dhidhdhoo.

The two fishermen were rescued by the Maldivian fishing boat “Kandu Roadhi” from 30 miles outside H. A. Thuraakunu at 3:45 am on December 4.

The two fishermen were previously being looked after by the military in H. A. Uligam before being transported to Dhidhdhoo last Saturday, January 7.

”Sun” has been informed the two fishermen were moved to Dhidhdhoo so that the authorities can look after them more conveniently. But was unable to obtain any official confirmation as to the exact reason from any official source.

Police reported that the two men are now under its care, and in good condition.

The authorities are working on transporting the men back to Sri Lanka.

The fishermen were left stranded after their boat ran out of diesel. The number of days the men were left stranded for is unclear.
