Bangladesh team arrives in Maldives for friendly

National football team of Bangladesh has arrived in the Maldives to play a friendly match with the Maldivian national team.

The team arrived in the country this evening would start practices tomorrow for their match on Thursday.

Although Captain Manmul Islam is not on the Bangladeshi team that came to the Maldives today due to last minute injury, he would part of the team in the Asian Cup Qualifying Match against Bhutan on 6 September.

Football Association of Maldives (FAM) said that the match against Bangladesh would the last match for the Maldives before facing Laos on 6 September in the Asian Cup Qualifiers.

While the match against Laos would be the first match under the guidance of Australian Coach, Darren Stewart, last night, the current national team won 1-0 against the Maldivian national team that won the 2008 SAFF Championship.

The last encounter of the Maldivian national team with Bangladesh was in January in the group stage of the SAFF Championship where Maldives achieved a 3-1 victory. But the under 23 team of Bangladesh defeated the Maldivian team in penalties on the second-runners up match in the South Asian Games.
