Maldivian athlete, Hassan Saaid has come first in the 100-meter preliminary heat in Olympics 2016, currently underway in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.
Saaid – nicknamed “The Fastest Man in Maldives”, completed the preliminary heat with a huge lead in 10.43 seconds.
Three heats were held on Saturday. Saaid qualified for the first round after winning the second heat in 100-meter dash.
Saaid came out top from the 21 runners who participated in the three 100-meter preliminary heats on Saturday.
Rodman Teltul from Palau – who came first in the third heat came closest to Saaid’s time at 10.53 seconds; followed by Riste Pandev from Macadonia – who came first during the second heat, finishing at 10.72 seconds.
Runners from Angola, Bangladesh, Togo, Malta, Kiribati and America competed against Saaid.
Saaid has the national record in the 100-meter dash, finishing in 10.33 seconds.
