A Maldivian student at Ebenezer International School in Bangalore, India, has won an opportunity to train at the Training Academy of the popular English football club, Manchester United.
Captain of the Ebenezer International School’s football team, Mohamed Dhaisam won the opportunity at a trial held at the presence of the coaches of Manchester Academy to represent Bangalore at the Premier Explore Cup in England.
Talking to Sun Media from Bangalore, Dhaisam said that a Maldivian student winning the opportunity made him happy and he went to the selection trial in the jersey of the Maldivian National Team. He said that he believes it is an opportunity to represent the country.
The training program would be held for the duration of ten days at the Saint George’s Park Football School.
Dhaisam said that if he performs well at the training in England, the coaches have said that he would get the opportunity to train at a football school of Manchester United. And so he is working hard to gain that opportunity.
When asked if he is considering a professional football career, the 16-year-old said that he has that thought and what happens at the Manchester training camp would help make a decision.
Dhaisam is among the top 16 among the total 80 students from different schools from Bangalore took part in the Bangalore selection trials.
